To reflect HELDECO's increased commitment to the renewable energy sector, the 65-strong company is investing in its corporate capabilities: by adding an extension to its headquarters in Aflenz/Turnau, we are expanding our production infrastructure by a further 600 square metres. The newly created space will accommodate additional manufacturing machinery that will enable, among other things, the machining of components up to seven metres in length.
More capabilities, more space: HELDECO is currently expanding its production premises by a further 600 square metres. The extension is intended in particular to create new space for the machining of particularly large and heavy components: because a Gurutzpe GLX 20 is finding a home within the newly created infrastructure. The horizontal heavy-duty lathe – featuring a milling unit for turning lengths of up to 7 metres and diameters of 2 metres – will be used in particular for orders in the renewable energies sector. "As a system supplier, we produce complex components which we combine into system solutions. In doing so, we cover the entire value chain – from programming, manufacturing and delivery as prototypes, small or medium-sized series, through to the creation of technical documentation and the assumption of spare parts management," explains HELDECO Managing Director Helmut Dettenweitz.
Specialist in the manufacture of systems for water and wind power
This expertise is currently in particular demand in the water and wind power industries: "The order situation in this sector makes us optimistic and has made it necessary to expand our competencies," says Dettenweitz. Further high-tech manufacturing machines are also to be accommodated in the new infrastructure. In total, the production areas will be increased to 5,100 square metres through the extension.

Construction progress is currently running according to plan: since the starting gun for the project was fired in the autumn of last year, preparations for laying the hall floor are already underway. The internal relocation of the systems is scheduled to take place as early as August, before production starts in the autumn. The expansion holds a special place in the history of the company – HELDECO was founded in 1990: "We have continuously invested in the location and our modern machinery over the past few years. In the area of production, however, it is the largest investment of the past decade," emphasises Dettenweitz. HELDECO is investing a total of 4.5 million euros in the expansion. Remarkably, 100 per cent of the value creation remains in Styria. Only domestic companies are being used for the expansion.
New staff wanted
This also brings new jobs at the componenmachine manufacturer: Two machining technicians have already been brought on board, and more are being sought. "We are constantly looking for dedicated employees, and apprentices in the fields of machining and welding technology are also welcome," explains HELDECO CFO Sabine Dettenweitz.
